Youngevity Welcomes The One, The Only Mr. John Fogg!

When it comes to MLM, John Milton Fogg, also known as the “Napoleon Hill of Network Marketing,” is a legend in the industry. He’s been in the profession as a writer, editor and international speaker for more than 25 years. John is the co-founder of Upline magazine, NetworkMarketing Lifestyles and Networking Times; and also the creator of the Upline Masters Weekends. He is the author/editor of more than 24 books, two of which have sold over one-million copies each, including his classic “The Greatest Networker in the World.”
In spite of is his great success as an author, speaker, and founder of many successful network marketing ventures, John had never truly taken the leap at starting his very own network marketing business. That is until he was introduced to Youngevity by his sponsor Tom Chenault and hasn’t looked back since.
Through the vision and leadership of Tom Chenault, John was quickly convinced that the time for him to make a change was now and Youngevity was the company to make that change with. “Tom Chenault is an inspiring human being. He knows this business inside-out, back and forth. He’s a pro’s pro with a HUGE heart. He leads with Relationship and Partnership. His purpose is to Serve. I have never, ever had the encouragement, support, direction… leadership by showing me how it’s done and by doing it first, in this business before. Tom Chenault IS one of The Greatest Networkers in the World.”
At 65years old, having spent 20+ years in the natural & health food business, and with two young daughters who he looks forward to wedding dances with, John says, “I know the importance of nutrition, especially how desperately we all need added minerals no matter how well we eat and, because of my professional experience, I just can’t get behind anything less than a stellar product line. Youngevity gives me that.”
John joined Youngevity on January 16th and is already seeing positive results in his health and business.
“I honestly never dreamed I could do this business— certainly nowhere near as successfully as I’ve been doing, nor so quickly. Write about it… Teach and train and coach… Sure. But DO IT. Nah. And now I am. I’m accomplishing things I have never achieved before. I’m putting into action ideas I’ve been writing and talking about for 20+ years, but have never done for real. And now my partners are doing them, too, and they’re succeeding.”
John has been a big name in the MLM industry for many years and, with his new Youngevity initiative, still continues to be a motivator to his family, friends, and many others willing to make a healthy lifestyle change while also gaining revenue. Not only does John look forward to dancing with his two youngest daughters at their weddings but he now has an even bigger goal in life that he shared. John tells us, “I’ve never-ever allowed myself to believe possible before understanding & experiencing these products. I’m going to live to be an active & fit 100 years old— or more!”
The Youngevity team is looking forward to all of John’s goals. Being physically and financially healthy will only make those goals even more attainable!

Sleep is Underrated

“Sleep is overrated.” “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” I know I’ve used these phrases many times in my life. Well, the funny thing is, not getting enough sleep could in fact destroy your health. I realize that we all have to forgo a good night’s sleep for a variety of reasons on occasion, whether it’s a work deadline or a family emergency. But making a habit of not getting enough sleep is where the problem arises. Poor sleeping habits puts you at risk for a wide range of health problems, on top of not providing you with the energy you need during the day to stay focused and energized, and creating a more than unfavorable environment for your nutrition and exercise plan.
In this day and age, being a part of a society that is always on the go, many of us have become accustomed to only sleeping 4 or 5 hours a night and waking up to a cup of coffee, followed by sometimes 2 or 3 more cups throughout the day. I’ve been there. I was doing fine until I began to see the effects. My body wasn’t burning off the calories the way it used to. I was becoming moody, making unhealthy choices, and running my body down. Fortunately, the effects that my body was seeing were minimal compared to the many other risks that sleep deprivation can have on one’s health.
I recently read an article on www.huffingtonpost.com outlining the most frightening effects of sleep deprivation. Researchers found that after one week of too little sleep, there were more than 700 genetic changes that could have major consequences on your health. According to the article “Sleep Deprivation Effects: 8 Scary Side Effects of Too Little Shut-Eye,” poor sleep has been linked to an increase in stroke risk, can lead to obesity, could increase your diabetes risk as well as your cancer risk, can contribute to osteoporosis, fuels memory loss, and can produce chemicals and hormones that lead to heart disease. All of these alarming side effects could significantly decrease your lifespan.
What exactly is enough sleep? According to the National Sleep Foundation, the average adult needs 7-9hours of sleep for optimal health. This may be standard for some of us and outlandish for others. Even if we do decide we want to make an attempt of being healthy and sleeping more, a lot of us have a hard time getting good sleep due to an inability to fall asleep or stay asleep.
The National Sleep Foundation has a few suggestions to getting good sleep:
  • Establish consistent sleep and wake schedules, even on weekends
  • Create a regular, relaxing bedtime routine such as soaking in a hot bath or listening to soothing music – begin an hour or more before the time you expect to fall asleep
  • Create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable and cool
  • Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillows
Additionally, not getting good, restful sleep makes it difficult for your body to metabolize carbohydrates and regulate important hormones like Melatonin and Cortisol, a stress hormone that directly affects your appetite. Good sleep is accomplished when your body cycles through all the 5 stages of sleep about 4 to 5 times a night; no tossing and turning and waking up in the middle of the night, just sleeping. What you may also want to add is some of Youngevity’s Sleep EZE to your new sleeping strategy. Sleep EZE includes a proprietary blend of herbs and other natural ingredients to support a healthy, restful sleep, especially for those of us trying to adjust to the new Daylight Savings Time clock!
Getting more sleep is vital to living longer, younger! Substances

A little exercise can make a lot of difference!

For as long as I can remember I have been playing soccer. With that came a lot of running. I always hated going on a four or five mile run before a practice. Ask most athletes and I’m sure they’ll agree; conditioning is the worst part of training.
For a while, you couldn’t have paid me to go out running; I hated it. It wasn’t until high school was over and I hung up the cleats that I started to really appreciate a good run. Then one day, playing a game of pickup basketball, I realized just how out of shape I was. I was out of breath from just a few trips up and down the court. The freshman fifteen is no joke, but it isn’t a life sentence either! I began to get back on the road for runs. Now I hate the feeling of NOT going on a run.
For me, and many other runners I’m sure, running is as close to meditation as I can get. There is an old Zen saying that I love. “Everyone should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour”. This saying holds true for exercise as well. Not having time isn’t an excuse for ignoring physical fitness. Little adjustments to your daily routine can contribute to the recommended 30 minutes of exercise a day.
I’m not saying everybody should run for miles and miles on end every day, (I’m 20 and training for a marathon), but everybody can do something to increase their daily physical output that doesn’t require an exercise facility; you may not even have to leave your work. You know that thing that’s always next to the elevator, kind of looks like a broken escalator? Yeah, those are stairs.
  • A brief session of stair climbing does more good for you than walking or running for the same amount of time because you have to work against the force of gravity.
  • According to a study done at Harvard University, if you can fit in 8 flights of stairs a day you could reduce your death rate by 32%.
  • While climbing stairs, you burn an average of 10 calories a minute. That’s 7 times more than standing awkwardly with strangers in an elevator listening to bad music.
  • Even two flights of stairs a day can lead to 6lb weight loss over the course of a year.
Trying to add a little extra physical output to your daily routine doesn’t mean hitting the gym for 2 hours a day. Adding even 10 minutes of walking can drastically improve your overall health. Get a pedometer and aim for 10,000 steps a day.
  • Whether you’re at the mall, school, work or movies, park in the back of the lot rather than driving around the parking lot looking for that perfect spot. It’s a simple but effective strategy. It adds a few extra seconds to your trip, but can help add few years to your life.
  • Kill two birds with one stone and take a “walking meeting”. If you know that it will take just five minutes to explain a project or idea to a coworker, walk around the building while doing it to add some calorie burn.
Just in case you’re thinking that you’re “too old” to get back into shape, I’ll leave you with the story of 67 year old Larry Macon. He’s a full time trial attorney in San Antonio, Texas. He has run over 825 marathons, with 113 in one year. Did I mention he’s 67? Check him out HERE.
Don’t forget Dr. Wallach’s mantra, “Exercise without supplementation is suicide.” Make sure you always have some Rebound FX On-The-Go Pouches to fuel even the smallest of workouts!

Is there a light at the end of the diabetes tunnel?

Despite all that the nation is doing to promote healthy lifestyles and all the efforts going into preventative health, it was troubling to read this morning on CNN Health that the number of those living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes rose from 17.5 million in 2007 to 22.3 million in 2012. During the last couple of years, we have seen an upward trend in many people making healthy lifestyle changes, but this begs the question, are we doing enough?
The total cost of those diagnosed with diabetes in the United States in 2012 was $245 Billion up 41% from 2007. This cost, according to Dr. John Anderson, president of medicine and science of the American Diabetes Association, isn’t due to rise in health costs, but simply due to the sheer number of Americans living with diabetes and he doesn’t know of any other disease increasing that significantly. Additionally, 23% of total US healthcare costs are attributed to diabetes, that’s about 1 in 5 healthcare dollars.
The high costs and the rise of those newly diagnosed with diabetes are due to many factors. One is aging. The risk of developing diabetes gets higher as you get older. Another is an on-going problem in the US, with excess weight and obesity. Genetics also play a part in the development of diabetes, especially in African Americans, American Indians, and Asian Americans. Still, there is much research being done to find treatments to reduce and/or prevent the prevalence of this disease.
Recently, the Molecular Nutrition & Food Research journal published a study on the use of Cocoa to help manage diabetes. The research found that a diet rich epicatechin, a main flavanol in cocoa which is abundant in dark chocolate, improved insulin pathways and receptors, helping in the management of diabetes. This study also noted that current medications to maintain long-term glycemic control in many people with diabetes were inadequate and the use of cocoa for treatment could be the answer.
Preventing terrible, sometimes deadly, diseases such as diabetes can only be done by living a healthy lifestyle. But as research has shown, consuming foods such as dark chocolate may also help. Youngevity offers several Healthy Chocolate choices such as CocoGevity Plus, Triple Treat or Triple Truffle. CocoGevity Plus combines smooth and velvety rich dark chocolate with exotic fruits and botanicals to deliver powerful bioactive nutrients which may support heart health, immune function, and many other aspects of health. There are many benefits to consuming dark chocolate; helping with diabetes is just another one.
So, the lesson here is to eat more dark chocolate! Who doesn’t love hearing that advice?
